South West and South Wales is a region with a number of currently active stations, stretching from Surf Radio down in Falmouth across to Xpress Radio in Cardiff. Despite relatively distant stations, with each member station being in a different county for a significant portion of the 2022/23 academic year, the region is highly active, including hosting the SRA conference multiple times in the region, most recently the 2023 Conference with XpressionFM in Exeter, with Xpress and Xtreme Radio (a former member station out of Swansea) in 2016 and 2018 respectively. There are also exciting new developments with stations that went dormant over the pandemic potentially making a comeback as well a new stations starting to find their feet.

Technically, Burst (Bristol) was active last year but didn’t pay SRA membership at any point. There has been a station set up at Plymouth Marjon and they did buy membership but they’re still starting out and we’ve had rather minimal contact with them recently.
